Joe Maciel, B. Comm., CFP, CA

For the past fifteen years Joe has concentrated exclusively on operating his public accounting practice.

His focus is providing corporate year-end services to privately held corporations as well as tax services to both individuals and corporations.

His practice has a strong emphasis on tax planning, business advice to owner managed businesses, as well as estate planning services with a focus on seniors' issues including executor services.

His work experience includes:

• Canada Revenue Agency audit division
• Bombardier Capital wholesale finance division
• Lectured for three years at Okanagan University College in the areas of Tax, Canadian Business and Management and Financial Accounting
• Presented a number of estate and financial and planning seminars in conjunction with local banks and credit unions.

Education & Certification:

• Commerce Degree with a major in Finance - University of British Columbia in Vancouver
• Chartered Accountant - Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia
• Certified Financial Planner - Financial Planning Standards Council of Canada
• Joe articled with the largest international accounting firm in Vancouver prior to moving to Kelowna.

Jennifer Sabatino, BBA

Born and raised in Kamloops, Jennifer joined Maciel & Company in 2009 upon completing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Thompson Rivers University.

Jennifer's responsibilities at work include the preparation of notice to readers, review engagements, as well as personal and corporate income tax returns. She is also responsible for Canadian tax compliance for Non-Residents of Canada including Non-residents reporting Canadian rental income or procedures relating to the disposition of Canadian property. She is currently enrolled in the Certified General Accountants Program and will obtain her designation within the next couple of years.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys playing numerous sports including tennis and golf. She loves to be outside and spend time with her family and friends in the beautiful Okanagan.

Kirsten Tripke

Kirsten began working for Maciel & Company in January 2011. Kirsten is responsible for office administration, full cycle bookkeeping for clients, and preparing personal tax returns. She also performs all of the internal accounting for Maciel & Company. She has recently obtained a Quickbooks Certificate and a Basic Accounting Certificate from Okanagan College.

Kirsten previously completed a 6-month volunteer internship in Los Angeles, California at the Dream Center. She also used to be Administrative Assistant/Barista at a local coffee shop in her small country hometown in Manitoba.

Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys volunteering at her church on youth leadership and various other activities, travelling, farming (when she has opportunity to head back to her farm in Manitoba) and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

Robin Cartlidge

Robin was born and raised in Nelson, BC then made her way to West Kelowna in 1993.

Robin has spent ten years working in public practice accounting firms and offers experience in the areas of full-cycle bookkeeping, government reporting forms and remittances, preparation of year-end corporate financial statements, and preparation of both personal and corporate income tax returns.

In her spare time Robin enjoys spending time with her family outdoors. Together they go camping, quading, swimming, snowmobiling, skating, and skiing. Both Robin and her husband have been playing softball in the Kinsmen softball league in West Kelowna for the past 16 years and they now look forward to their two boys joining T-ball this spring.

Donna

Donna grew up in the Okanagan and loves the progress that West Kelowna has made over the years. She enjoys the diverse clients at Maciel & Company and loves to assist them as much as she can. Her duties include the preparation of personal, corporate, estate and trust returns.

Donna's accounting education consists of completion of her 4th level in the Certified General Accountants program. She has also worked for a major utility company for a number of years in their accounting department in various positions.

She has volunteered for the Westside Minor Hockey Association, Westside Soccer Association, and canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Naomi Neukom

Naomi is our receptionist and joined the staff of Maciel & Company in November 2008. She is responsible for the initial customer relations, both in person and over the phone. Her many years of customer service experience offer her the skills needed to create great relationships with new and existing clients.

Being a mother to one daughter provides her with more than enough to keep her occupied. Naomi enjoys helping with her daughter's Ringette team in the winter and assistant coaching her soccer team during the season. She also enjoys cooking and reading.

Kristen Porrelli

Kristen is our part time receptionist and fills in for Naomi when she is away. Her duties include answering the telephone and directing client questions to the appropriate staff member. Kristen is currently attending the Arts program at Okanagan College and enjoys playing recreational volleyball.
